Although the total is essentially two touchdowns higher this year, both teams boast talented, veteran quarterbacks (Massachusetts’ Blake Frohnapfel and Colorado’s Sefo Liufau); return most of their offensive players; and operate at an upbeat tempo.
In five home games last year against higher-caliber Pac 12 defenses, the Buffaloes averaged 30 points an outing. On the flip side, Massachusetts’ defense allowed 41 points or more in half of its games in 2014 against a much softer slate of opponents.
Expect a Lot of Offense at Folsom Stadium this Weekend
Frohnapfel (6-6, 229), who was injured late last season but has returned to full health, is the fourth-rated senior quarterback in the 2016 NFL Draft, according to draft guru Mel Kiper Jr.
Liufau, a 6-4, 240-pound junior, meanwhile, is essentially a third-year starter with 19 career starts under his belt. Look for lots of points Saturday in Boulder.
