Duke +2 over Virginia  – Neither of these ACC entries comes into Saturday’s contest on a particularly high note. Duke, which typically overachieves under the tutelage of underrated head man David Cutcliffe, enters on a three-game losing streak, while Virginia and head coach Mike London who is once again hearing talk of his possible dismissal, has dropped three of its last four games.

London is one of college football’s true good guys, However, his teams have consistently failed to meet the expectations largely generated by highly-rated recruiting classes. Next week’s regular season finale at home against rival Virginia Tech could be his final go-round.

The Cavaliers are 3-7 this season, with its victories coming against FCS William & Mary and Syracuse and Georgia Tech which are a combined 6-14 in 2015.

Duke’s 2015 squad is clearly a notch or two below its previous two editions. Still, the Blue Devils (6-4 this year) have been true road warriors in recent times.

Duke is 12-2 straightup in its last 14 road games and has also won nine of its last 14 away from home in conference play. Cutcliffe said Thursday that starting quarterback Thomas Sirk, who missed last week’s home  loss to Pittsburgh due to an upper body injury, will play against Virginia.

Take the solid traveling Blue Devils and the small points.
