Best Las Vegas Sports Books – The California Sports Book in Downtown Vegas

What does the California Hotel/Casino in Downtown Vegas have in common with the swanky Cosmoplitan located on the Vegas Strip? Not much. However, both properties have recently re-located their below average second floor sports books to the first floor casino areas of their respective properties.

The California contained what was possibly the worst sports book Downtown. About twenty chairs complimented by a dozen non-HD screens that looked like they were smeared with Vaseline was about all the former sports book space at the Californian could boast. But hey, Lappert’s Ice Cream was nearby.

The new sports book at the California contains a mix of lounge seating with tables, barstool seating, and comfy chairs pointing right at several of the visually pleasing HD screens – there are right around 20 screens in all, which are nicely positioned for sports viewing from any vantage point of the sports book.

Drink tickets are in effect here but you can always grab a seat at the new sports book bar and slow play video poker as you watch the sports action. Otherwise, tip the ticket writer and you should score drink tickets rather easily here.

The connected sister property, Main Street Station, doesn’t have a sports book. However if you’re staying at Main Street Station, this would be the closest spot to make a sports bet.

So, how good is the new set up at “The Cal?” So good that The Vegas Parlay will make the bold statement that it is now the best sports book Downtown….until perhaps The Vegas Club renovation happens?
