The interest in soccer, or football if you will, at Las Vegas sports books has always been marginal at best. Make no mistake however, there are sports bettors in Vegas who get action on all kinds of international soccer matches – the World Cup was a resounding success for Vegas sports books a couple of summers ago.
Leicester City – The Foxes were huge longshots to win the EPL Title
The English Premiere League (EPL) has crowned a new league champion. Not Manchester United, not Arsenal, not Chelsea. Leicester City pulled off what is akin to the Cleveland Browns winning Super Bowl 51 – a huge longshot at the start of the EPL season. The team known as the “Foxes”were posted at anywhere from 2500-1 to 5000-1 odds. Astronomical to say the least.

So, did anyone lay a little to win lot on the improbable EPL champions? In Vegas, there were a few wagers made at both the Westgate Super Book as well as William Hill spots around town.
The Westgate Super Book took two wagers on Leicester City at 2000-1. One was for $10 and the other for $5. A $20,000 and $10,000 return respectively for two lucky sports bettors. William Hill had 3 wagers made on the Foxes. One was via their mobile App for $2, the other at Buffalo Bills State Line for $5, and lastly a $10 play at the off-strip Silver Sevens location. William Hill offered Leicester City at 2500-1, so the aforementioned $10 bet made at Silver Sevens netted a $25,000 payday for a lucky sports bettor.
This was an occasion where it paid to take the underdog…..and it paid handsomely for a few lucky sports bettors.
