The Denver Broncos are the biggest favorite in NFL history. Sports books in Las Vegas listed Peyton Manning’s crew as high as 28-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars for this Sunday’s match up at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
But the high point spread hasn’t meant much to bettors. Jay Kornegay, the Race and Sports Book boss at the LVH in Las Vegas, said that early on, “action on the game is balanced. We moved the line half a point due to the change in QB for Jacksonville” (Henne for Gabbert).
The largest point spread in NFL history was in 1976, when the Pittsburgh Steelers were 26-point favorites at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Steelers shut out the Bucs and covered the spread easily. The largest point spread favorite since the bicentennial was the Patriots as a 24-point favorite over the Eagles in 2007. The Patriots won, barely, 31-28 and didn’t cover the spread.
Checking on different sports books around town, there are no money lines being offered at the moment in Las Vegas. William Hill sports books (Plaza, The D, Riviera, State Line) is offering a couple of prop bets on the game however.
