Best Las Vegas Sports Books – Red Rock Sports Book Review

Best Las Vegas Sports Books – Red Rock Race and Sports Book

Seats –  One of the larger books in Las Vegas with a total of 260 seats. Bar area with tables and chairs of 80. Small area of individual seats of 30, but these are at an extreme upward angle to the screens. 90 individual flat screen terminals. VIP area with seating  for 60. It has the feel and look of the traditional big sports book.

Screens –  3 large screens , with one dedicated to horse racing. An additional 28 screens of various sizes throughout the book and bar area. The screens have not been updated in quite sometime and while HD, they are of lower definition and could use some improvement. A friend recently stated to this writer, “This is a really nice sports book but they need new TV’s.”

About

Stations owned Red Rock Casino and Hotel is located 9 miles west of the strip in the affluent Summerlin Community. It is widely consider the best suburban casino in the Las Vegas area.

The book attracts mainly locals, but also a good bit of out of towners especially during the week or major events as the hotel does a brisk business.

Cab fare is roughly $40-50 one way from the Strip, so it’s best to use your own transportation. Red Rock does have a shuttle to and from Fashion Show Mall twice daily – it is intended for Hotel guests only, but typically it is not a problem to jump on.

Betting lines tail all the other Stations lines in Vegas and dependent upon the game typically are higher or lower than the the major strip casinos. Stations has relatively low betting limits in comparison to the major street casinos as well. They do offer in game live wagering on major games.

Red Rock does not take UFC or other MMA action due to common ownership of the Casino and the UFC.

Comp Drinks

Not the best book in town if you are looking for free or cheap drinks. You get 1 beer, wine or house liquor ticket  for a $20 wager. A wager of $40 or more will get you 2. It does not increase incrementally and is capped at 2 no matter how much your bet size is. Most split their bet sizes between various ticket writers to obtain additional drink tickets. The tickets have a 24 hour time stamp and unfortunately the bar and wait staff enforce the 24 hour validity. Without tickets, a beer is $4 and liquor is $5 and up.

Food

Red Rock has gone through numerous restaurants over the years. Currently there is a Yardhouse and Lucille’s BBQ adjacent to the book. Several new restaurants are under construction. Yardhouse is highly recommended with a great bar and patio areas with high quality monitors. Food Court includes Starbucks, FatBurger, Rubios and several others. T- Bones the original restaurant established from Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen series is a place for well cooked steak. The typical buffet and 24 hour cafe are in place here also.

Odds and Ends

There are sharps here and it’s a great place to pick the brains of other bettors. The bar area has a bit of a “Cheers” atmosphere with everyday regulars who love action. You will see some local celebrities here, if thats your thing, Dana White, Orel Hershiser, Vince Neil , Carlos Santana and Floyd Mayweather play here.

Red Rock is located within a 10 minute drive from Red Rock Canyon National Park, home of the best hiking and scenery in the Las Vegas Valley.
