Super Bowl in Las Vegas Tips

The Super Bowl continues to be the biggest single-day event on the Las Vegas sports book calendar. Crowds and sports book lines start to materialize several days before the big game and it gets crazier as game day approaches. Most Las Vegas sports books are standing room only several hours before kickoff and the packed crowds in the sports book continue all the way to the final whistle. A packed house is the norm at just about every Las Vegas sports book and casino bar during the Super Bowl. Even the large “super books” like Westgate, Caesars Palace and The Mirage have little to no available seating by 9 or 10 am on Super Bowl Sunday.

There are different ways to make sure you score a seat at a sports book or one of the many other locations around town hosting Big Game parties. There are events for everybody’s budget and taste. With some planning you can assure yourself a comfortable and fun experience during one of the most exciting sports days in Las Vegas – Super Bowl Sunday.

Tips for Experiencing Super Bowl in Las Vegas

Bet Early!

Carving out some time at the sports book on Friday or Saturday is a good idea. The closer Super Bowl Sunday gets, the crazier the lines at most Las Vegas sports books become. Standing in line for an hour plus to get your Super Bowl action is no fun and getting shut out altogether is even worse. Most sports books have apps that make betting via your smart phone easy so that’s definitely a good option. Also, there are some off-strip locations where lines may not be as hectic a few hours before kickoff. If the long lines do not appeal to you, a quick Uber/Lyft ride to these spots could be a good alternative. Off-strip spots like Tuscany (William Hill sports book) and the Hard Rock (CG Technology sports book) are good places to check out to beat the lines at the bigger sports books.

Super Bowl Sunday Also Means Super-Sized Lines in Vegas

So plan ahead by looking to reserve seating via a casino host (which can be tough unless you are a BIG gambler at the tables) or simply arrive at the crack of dawn and stake a claim. Being at the sports book early on Super Bowl Sunday will not only give you time to get your betting action in, but it will also allow you to scour through pages of Super Bowl props as well.  Some sports books will block off entrances and ask patrons to form a line in the morning, which leads to the next bit of advice.

Early Bird Gets the Worm

“Early is a priceless timepiece owned by the successful.”  – Johnnie Dent Jr.

If you can handle climbing out of that comfy hotel bed and proceed to the sports book while the night club crowd is stumbling back to their rooms, you have a shot of scoring a seat at a sports book. But every year it seems like Las Vegas Super Bowl fans are claiming their sports book seat earlier and earlier. If a 7a.m. journey to the sports book and sitting for many hours until kick off doesn’t faze you, then there could very well be a spot or two for you at a Las Vegas sports book. But even then, many seats will already be reserved.

Social Media

There is a network of Super Bowl in Vegas fans connecting via Twitter and Facebook. I will begin tweeting and re-tweeting info via Twitter in the days ahead of Super Bowl Sunday and also during the day of the “Big Game.” Twitter can be useful for more instant information about which sports books or parties have some empty seats available. Seek Out a Big Game Party

There is no right or wrong answer to whether you should fork out cash for a Big Game  party or attend one of the free events around town. The Vegas Parlay List of Super Bowl Parties in Las Vegas includes both paid and free events around Vegas. Paid events usually assure you a seat and a good vantage point to screens showing the game. However that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other options.

Not keen on forking some bucks for a Big Game Party? Well, there are plenty of spots around town that not only have multiple screens set up in resort ballrooms or theaters, but also have betting stations or kiosks set up for wagering on the games. The drinks and food are cheap, betting is available, and the crowd is just as much into the Super Bowl in Las Vegas action as the folks that scored seats at the sports book. These “makeshift” sports books that many casinos put together have ample space and seating is usually available with all of the amenities (large screens, betting stations) that you find in the sports book. Some of the spots to take a look at for free parties include The Westgate Theater (long lines so get there several hours before kickoff)  Gold Coast and the South Point.
