Caesars Palace Sports Book Review
There are certain brands in Vegas that carry such an iconic tone that simply mentioning its name requires little further explanation. Caesars Palace is one of those names and their sports book was once considered the “go to” spot to watch and bet on sports. While still a popular place, it is no longer what it once was as Caesars has modified the space by reducing its size and placing a large poker room and bar directly adjacent to the sports book. Even with these changes, the sports book and adjacent bar area remain pretty lively during busy sports days.
The once open feel of the Caesars Palace sports book space is now gone. The poker room and the new bar area have been placed in such a manner that the sports book seems crammed within the two instead of being a complimentary component of the new layout. Bellagio, for example has a poker room directly adjacent to the sports book. However it doesn’t overpower it like the set up at Caesars does.
This iconic spot has changed and is no longer that large and open mega sports book that it once was. It seems like the Caesars Palace sports book is now an afterthought to a large, and very nice, bar area and a new poker room that is also pretty slick. With all of these improvements surrounding the sports book, Caesars did not modify any of the existing big screens in the sports book space and several of the individual monitors were not working during a recent visit. What you basically have is two new slick custom homes (poker room and bar) on either side of an older home (sports book) in need of remodeling sandwiched in between.
In spite of the changes, the new bar area is modern and well done with an adequate number of flat screens available. The betting windows are only a few steps away so the bar is a great spot to watch and bet on sports. The ticket writers here are friendly as they’ve always been and drink tickets can still be had for minimum bets, or as has been the case in the past, a polite request and a tip. During special events and promotional days for Total Rewards Platinum and & 7 Diamond members, a portion of the sports book is reserved via a velvet rope for Caesars Palace’s preferred gamblers. Great if you are at the Platinum or 7 Diamond level, not so good if you are not.
If you are staying at Caesars Palace, looking to relax while the significant other is shopping in the Forum Shops, or are perhaps seeking an alternative from Harrah’s or the Flamingo sports books across the street, then the Caesars Palace sports book is a decent option. As for me, I may only be visiting the Caesars Palace sports book to place a bet before heading over to The Palm Restaurant in The Forum Shops. Caesars has ruined an iconic space.
