College Football Pick for Thursday October 29, 2020

*Colorado State -1 at Fresno State Thursday Night

(posted Tues 10/27/20 Circa line used)

New Fresno State head coach Kalen DeBoer served as offensive coordinator last year for Indiana. His offense averaged 443.6 yards per game, which ranked second in the Big Ten for the season – so it’s alarming that Fresno State’s offense looked so abysmal out of the chute in week 1 vs Hawaii in a 34-19 loss…Bad week or just bad talent?  Both teams have positive ATS numbers on recent Thursday games so there is no advantage there.  Patrick O’Brien is back at quarterback for Colorado State – he threw for 2,803 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2019. O’Brien is head and shoulders above Fresno State QB Haener and is arguably the number 2 QB in the Mountain West behind Boise State’s Hank Bachmeier. The Fresno State defense wilted some in the second half last week and will have to withstand the pounding of Rams running back Marcus McElroy – the 235 pound senior rushed for over 100 yards vs. Fresno State last year and I expect the same here. If the running game gets going, Colorado State will surely show an efficient aerial attack that will get them the W. Lay the point and do it fast as I can see this spread moving to -2 or -2.5 by kickoff.

Check back prior to Saturday. More college plays forthcoming……..
