College Football Picks for 10/31/2020

N. Texas at *UTEP +5.5: I stay on the UTEP train this week as they are back at home vs a sub .500 North Texas team. UTEP’s defense should get back on track playing in El Paso and given North Texas’ incredibly bad defense, I’m happy to take the 5.5.  GAME POSTPONED

*Michigan State +22 at Michigan: Michigan State out gained Rutgers but ended up with a big L due in most part, to committing a myriad of turnovers. The Spartans number one goal this week is to protect the ball and teams coming off a multiple turnover game tend to do a better job the following week in that area. With the exception of last year, there haven’t been any blowouts in this rivalry over the past 5 years. Take the points.

*Indiana -12.5 at Rutgers: Rutgers got the job done last week upsetting Michigan State on the road but I still do not trust their defense enough to back them in this spot. The Scarlet Knight offense is not explosive and I believe the Indiana we saw beat Penn State is the real deal. Although Indiana does not have a good recent ATS record as road favorites,  they are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 on the road vs teams with a winning record. Lay the 12.5 with the Hoosiers.

Boise State at *Air Force +14: Home teams are 3-0 last 3 ATS in this series. Boise State is the class of the Mountain West but will they be looking ahead to their looming showdown vs BYU? Probably not, but don’t be surprised if Air Force bounces back with a strong performance after an embarrassing showing vs San Jose State last week (16-7 loss). And with that said, this line has mysteriously stabilized at -14 even with 2/3 of the action coming in on Boise State. Take Air Force and the +14 at home.
