Football in Vegas and Other Tidbits

Football in Vegas and other Tidbits

What can be more fun football in Vegas? As the calendar turns to September, there are all kinds of football in Vegas contests and events going on around town. Below, I’ll list some of those big money contests as well as some Las Vegas sports book related happenings.

Football Handicapping Contests

Boyd Gaming (Orleans, Gold Coast, Fremont, California)

The Pick the Pros Football Handicapping event is back with a half million dollars in prize money. Pick the Pros is Las Vegas’ longest running football contest. The contest is free for B Connected members and higher tier B Connected members get multiple entries.

William Hill (Hooters, Casino Royale, SLS, Tuscany, The D, Plaza, Downtown Grand)

William Hill sports books are offering a College Pick ‘em Contest with $75,000 in prizes. It is strictly a college football contest and is $500 to enter. Multiple prizes will be awarded. Entries are done exclusively via their many kiosks located at their sports book locations. Registration is open though September 9.

Westgate Super Book

The Westgate’s Super Contest is the most prominent NFL handicapping event in Las Vegas. Added to the fun this year is a Gold Tier with a $5000 entry. The regular contest has a $1,500 entry fee with the prize pool approaching $1million as of this writing. Sign up prior to week 1 of NFL.

Golden Nugget

The Friday Football Showdown at The Golden Nugget returns as contestants pick both college and NFL games. Entry fee is $2,000.

Football in Vegas – NFL and College Football Watch Parties

Many casinos have game day specials on food and drinks for Football in Vegas. The Beer Park at Paris joins the fray this football season with a pig roast on Saturdays during college football with plenty of screens at the rooftop bar. Food/drink specials will be available and reservations can be arranged.

The Westgate has brought back Football Central this year and based on the Twitter feedback, many are happy that this free event is back – including me. 3,000 seats with HD big screens and stereo sound. Betting stations are available to go along with drink and food specials.

Downtown Vegas now has a great option as the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center is opening up its Downtown Watch Zone Parties. Free admission and drink/food specials will be available to go along with VIP booths all in an open air setting. Watching NFL in this setting should be fun.

If you’re in Vegas for Monday Night Football, a trip down to the SouthPoint is a good bet. The Showroom hosts Monday Night Football Parties throughout the season. Cash prizes and drink specials ($2 beers, bottomless pitchers, beer buckets) will be available as well as cheap eats.

Vegas Sports Book  Tidbits

The Golden Gate located Downtown has completed their renovations. There is no sports book at the Golden Gate, however a William Hill kiosk has popped up in the newly renovated area. Time to make some sports bets and head over to Bar Prohibition, Golden Gate’s main and very fun bar area…….@MeltzVegas recently tweeted Caesars Palace prices for watching a game in a reserved area of their sports book. $325 gives you the privilege of reserved seats at their race and sports book and that’s the price is for one person.I dunno about that…..The Westgate Super Book is offering odds on the Golden State Warriors making the NBA playoffs. The odds are minus 1000. A $100 bet gets you 10 cents. On the other hand, you can bet that they won’t make the playoffs for 100-1. Neither bet makes much sense but people will bet it.
