Paul Stone’s College Football Play of the Week

Wake Forest +9.5 over North Carolina State

Occasionally in the handicapping process, we must force ourselves to more closely examine the ugly ‘dog.’ Beauty, after all, is only skin deep and sometimes a winner can lay deep beneath the surface. Even in the world of college football handicapping.

Wake Forest Looking to Bounce Back This Week

Wake Forest Looking to Bounce Back This Week

Wake Forest enters Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference home contest against NC State on somewhat of a downer, coming off its worst defeat of the season _ a 50-14 thumping at the hands of a rising North Carolina squad. If that’s not enough, Wake’s top two quarterbacks, John Wolford and Keenan Holman,  have both been hobbled recently by injuries.

Still, several technical advantages rest with the Demon Deacons this weekend.

First of all, NC State has failed to cover in its last 13 tries as an ACC road favorite. On top of that, Wake finds itself in its preferred pointspread role of conference home underdog. Since the start of the 2005 season, the Demon Deacons are a profitable 16-7 ATS when playing at home against a league opponent when getting points.

Look for at least one of Wake’s quarterbacks to be healthy enough to answer the bell. Take the Demon Deacons and the points.
