College Basketball Picks for 12/25/20

**Wisconsin -1 at Michigan State : Michigan State’s pair of “big” wins this season at Duke and Notre Dame aren’t looking too hot right now. Sparty has not covered in their last 4 games – all as favorites. It’s good to see that Michigan State’s leading scorer and rebounder Joey Hauser’s knee issue isn’t serious and he will be back but it’s questionable if he’ll be 100%. Defense travels and I think Wisconsin’s D will be ready to keep a lid on Michigan State pushing the gas offensively. Wisconsin’s positive assist and turnover numbers will serve them well in this tough road match up. A lot of people will see getting a bucket on Michigan State at home to be very enticing – Sparty as a home underdog doesn’t happen often. But don’t reach for that bag here….Lay the point with the stronger Wisconsin squad.

**Maryland +3 (first half) at Purdue: This conference game smells like a grind-it-out contest to me and I think the score will be tight, so getting +3 on Maryland at halftime is where I will land here. Both teams are similar on the offensive side and Maryland will look to move forward after their win vs a decent LaSalle team after a layoff.

**Minnesota +7.5 vs Iowa: Luka Garza is a force at home and on the road leading a strong Iowa team that deserves to be favored here – but not by this many points in my opinion. Minnesota is an experienced team and the aforementioned Garza will be given a run for player of the game by Minnesota’s Marcus Carr. The Gophers have strong underlying numbers leading up to this game and home court, fans or no fans, is a plus for Minnesota….and if it means anything, as of this write-up, over 80% of bets made are on Iowa. Take the home dog here.
