College Basketball Selections for Wednesday 12/16/20

Vanderbilt +6.5 vs Richmond: This spread is a tad higher than it should be in my opinion. Richmond has faced tougher so far, but fell flat on their face away from home against a very good West Virginia team. Vanderbilt’s early underlying numbers are better and I like them at home in this situation. Against unranked teams, Vandy usually handles themselves well on their home court.

Oregon State -8 vs UTSA: Oregon State’s sub .500 record and losses to Wyoming and Portland don’t tell the true story – some of the Beaver’s key underlying numbers (assists, turnovers) are actually very strong. They should score plenty today on their home court vs a UTSA defense that leaves a lot to be desired. Gill Coliseum in Corvallis is not an easy trip. Lay it.

Mississippi -12.5 at Middle Tenn State: MTSU has covered only once in their last 7 home games and they face a tough assignment vs an Ole Miss squad that is athletic and can get after it on defense. That Ole Miss defense is what I feel will be key today for The Rebels as MTSU does not have a high end scorer on their roster. Lay the 12.5 on a very capable Ole Miss team.
