***Appalachian State -7 vs Marshall
Appalachian State’s defense is good enough (5.1 yds per play – equal to Alabama!) and you would expect the defense to be extra tough at home on a chilly weeknight at “The Rock” in Boone, NC. Since 2018, Appalachian State is 10-6 (62%) ATS in non-conference games. For Marshall, their offense is their strength and it is tough to go against this unit. However, this will be a different environment – cold and under the lights in not-so-friendly surroundings. I expect to see a turnover or two from Marshall that could cost them. Marshall has racked up most of its gaudy offensive stats at home vs. Navy and NC Central. Lining up vs. Appalachian State at Kidd Brewer Stadium is a different animal. Lay the 7 with Appy State, but no more than that.
