NCAA Football

Good morning from sunny Southern California.  Daniel Lock here as a special guest of  The Vegas Parlay.  Below you will find my picks for The Weekly Pick 5 for College Football.  Jump on board or fade away!

Ohio State +3 at Michigan State     It’s with great pleasure that I open up my Weekly Pick 5 with the visiting Buckeyes from Ohio State.  This game opened at most books with Michigan State at -2.5.  What catches my eye is that the last two weeks Michigan State has been home favorites against E. Michigan (-31.5) and Notre Dame (-4.5), failing to cover both times.  I know the Buckeyes have not been cashing for their backers this year owning a 1-3 ATS record, but it makes it easier to back them when Michigan State owns the exact same ATS record.  Urban Meyer will have his troops ready for their first road game as they invade Spartan Stadium and cover!

Connecticut -15.5 vs. Buffalo     Head to head trends are impossible to ignore in this morning game.  The Bulls are a measly 0-7 ATS in their last 7 against Connecticut.  They are also 0-4 in their last 4 meetings in Rentschlerand and don’t forget that the favorite is 7-0 ATS in the last 7!  It does not look good for the visiting Bulls, especially if leading rusher and All-Mac running back Branden Oliver sits for the second straight week.  Last week without Oliver, the Bulls had a disappointing offensive effort with only 267 total yards against Kent State.  This week they will see a better defense in Connecticut who has held three of their last four opponents to a season low in offensive yardage.  Lay the points!

UCLA -19 at Colorado     Jim Mora was not a happy camper as UCLA lost SU as a home favorite against Oregon State last week.  As a result, Coach Mora had his team up for 7am practices in order to get his team ready for the Buffs of Colorado.  As for Colorado, they are coming off a good come from behind win as road dogs at Washington State.  UCLA will need a rout at Folsom Field if they want to grab the attention of the Pac-12 and cash for their backers.  I for one believe that Mora is doing something good over at UCLA and foresee that they get back to their running game which averages over 250 YPG.  UCLA gets back on track this week and continues as one of my preseason ATS cash cows!

Penn State +1 at Illinois     Is Penn State back?  Not exactly, but they are back to .500 after losing the first two games to open up the season and are a healthy 3-1 ATS.  The Nittany Lions travel to Illinois and take their head to head 12-3 SU and 5-1 ATS (Last 6 at Memorial Stadium) record with them.  The Penn State faithful have to love The Fighting Illini QB controversy.  They pulled Nate Scheelhaase late in the first quarter and replaced him with Reilly O’Toole (awesome name) only to get demolished by La Tech 24-52 as home favorites (-3).  As many are fading Penn State this year because of what was uncovered during the off season, I’m taking that 1 point and hoping they don’t need it.

Oregon State (+2.5) at Arizona     Series trends dominate again here as we close out the weekly Pick 5.  The Beavers are 11-2 ATS in the last 13 against Arizona and have covered 5 straight while in the desert!  Arizona on the other hand are 2-10 ATS at their last dozen tries as Pac-12 chalk.  You have to love those numbers as Oregon State gets points this week.  Does Rich Rod get his team back on track after a pathetic showing against Oregon last week?  I don’t think so…

NFL

Bengals -1 at Jaguars  Bengals have tremendous weapons on offense and their underrated QB Andy Dalton is coming into his own. Cincy rolls by 10.

Bills +4.5 vs Patriots  Fitzpatrick keeps his picks under control and will help the Bills offense move the ball well on a mediocre Patriots defense.
