Las Vegas Sports Book News – Tropicana Says Adios to its Sports Book

Las Vegas Sports Book News – The Tropicana says adios to its sports book.

Back in the early 90s, during my initial forays to Las Vegas I always thought what an absolute joke the Tropicana sports book was. One betting counter with about 6 seats and a few screens in an area tucked away from the casino that was not much bigger than a walk-in closet. Well, history appears to be repeating itself as the very nice, and big, CG Technology run sports book at the Tropicana is no more. A restaurant will be taking over the space.

Tropicana Sports Book is now..........Gone.

Tropicana Sports Book is now……….Gone.

It really is a shame, the sports book at the Tropicana was a pretty nice spot – especially when the adjacent MGM Grand sports book got too crowded. Those in the know would simply take the five minute walk over the pedestrian bridge and find themselves amongst quality HD screens and  usually plenty of seating (maybe that explains why the sports book is now gone). The sports book was located away from the casino, which nowadays really isn’t a good formula for any Las Vegas sports book. But now, the Tropicana’s scaled down version of what they are still calling a sports book is located on the casino floor next to the slots tournament area. What you will find here is a betting kiosk and a few flat screens. That’s it. It’s a shame really, but thinking about it – I don’t think many folks will miss the Tropicana sports book. As nice and spacious as it was, it simply wasn’t in a good location and “The Trop” isn’t quite in the center of all of the action nowadays.
