Las Vegas Sports Books – Several Spots Where “Lighting Up” is a No-No

As a Vegas newbie in the the early 90s, I would frequent the Sands and Gold Coast sports books on my trips to Sin City, with an occasional stop to watch big sporting events at Caesars Palace and The Mirage. All of the aforementioned Las Vegas sports books had something different to offer: some were more intimate, others were looser with comps, and others – by early 90s standards – had great giant screens. All of these Las Vegas sports books had one thing in common however; you were going to inhale and smell like cigarette and cigar smoke all day. But hey, this is Vegas and the smoking thing is part of the deal when you enter a casino right?

The Non-Smoking Aria Sports Book

Times have changed and not everyone wants to be in a smoking environment while taking in the horse racing or sports action at a Las Vegas sports book. There are plenty of Vegas sports book visitors however that like to be able to light up that expensive cigar that is enjoyed during their Vegas trips or simply light up a cigarette. But they are in a growing minority. While most smoke friendly Las Vegas sports books have designated “non-smoking” areas within their facility, there are plenty of Vegas sports books that are completely “smoke-free” environments. Here’s a list to help you plan ahead, regardless of what side of the smoking fence you are on:

Smoke Free Las Vegas Sports Books

  • Venetian
  • Pallazzo (Lagasse’s Stadium)
  • Tropicana
  • Cosmopolitan
  • Hard Rock
  • Palms
  • Luxor
  • M Resort
  • Aria
  • Westgate Super Book

It’s interesting to note that currently, there are no smoke-free sports books located Downtown, although several spots on or near Fremont Street do not allow cigar smoking.

  1. Is the Red Rock sports book smoke free? How about the The Cal’s new sports lounge?

    Thanks!
