A list of what I’m thankful for just about every Las Vegas sports book on or near the Las Vegas Strip.
SouthPoint – Thankful that your sports book has a liberal free drink ticket policy, cheap hot dogs at the sports book, and the adjacent Del Mar Lounge with tons of screens and $2 drafts.
Silverton – It’s great to see that nice new tower as I drive into town but I have yet to visit your sports book. I hear the screens are great and the space is right in the middle of the casino action, which is a plus.
Mandalay Bay – Thankful, or perhaps hopeful, that one day MGM Resorts will throw down some cash and replace the outdated screens. When this finally happens, instant top ten Las Vegas sports book.
Luxor – Thankful that you were one of the first Las Vegas sports books to go non-smoking.
Hooters – Thankful that you re-did your sports book and that William Hill runs things. You are underrated.
Excalibur – Also non-smoking and thankful that drink tickets here are possibly the easiest get of all MGM run properties.
Tropicana – Thankful that you at least still have a sports book. It’s too bad the original sports book space was moved and then downsized.
New York New York – Thankful that your sports book isn’t generic looking and still embraces the New York New York theme by looking like a subway/train station.
MGM Grand – I’m thankful that I got to meet Wayne Gretzky for a brief moment as I walked out of your temporary sports book when the new sports book was being built 14-15 years ago.
Monte Carlo – I’m thankful that the sports book was so generous with drink tickets during March Madness a few years back. Here’s hoping the new set up in the old Pub Space works out.
Aria- Thankful that Five 50 Pizza is so close.
Cosmopolitan – Thankful that you moved the sports book from the second floor and placed it closer to all of the action.
Planet Hollywood – Thankful that you have quick and delicious eats (Earl of Sandwich & Pin Up Pizza) only steps away. Also, stay dimly lit.
Bellagio – Thankful for your fancy over-sized leather chairs and that you were the last major sports book on the strip to go the drink ticket route.
Paris – Thankful that you recently upgraded your screens and added a lounge area in the rear.
Bally’s – Thankful for “Poe” the bartender at the sports book bar – he’s one of the best. So much potential here…could be the strip version of the Super Book.
Cromwell – Thankful that you finally built a sports book. The space is somewhat secluded but nice nonetheless.
Caesars – Thankful that you were my main sports book back in the early 90s. But you’ve changed.
Flamingo – Thankful that you are loose with drink tickets.
Linq – Thankful that someday, you might be a top 10 sports book…once those terrible Vaseline glazed screens are updated.
Harrah’s – Thankful for the new screens and overall cozy set up. Also loose with drink tickets and a great hidden gem of a sports book.
Casino Royale – Thankful that there is a William Hill sports book mid-strip and that the $1 $2 Michelobs remain a bargain as far as the strip is concerned.
Mirage – Thankful for those beautiful screens and all around classic Las Vegas sports book.
Venetian – Thankful that a sports book can look so great. But $12.50 for a refreshment? Not so great.
Palazzo – Thankful to know that your sports book, Lagasse’s Stadium, used to be occupied by Jay Z’s 40/40 club.
TI – Thankful for your great screens and the loose drink ticket policy. Many have indicated that they are thankful for the adjacent CVS.
Wynn/Encore – Thankful for the beautiful new digs and great screens. I still miss Zoozacrackers though.
Westgate – Thankful for the different amenities for sports bettors and a total remodel/upgrade of the space without losing the vibe that remains from the old Hilton and LVH days. I’m also thankful that Football Central in the theater is back.
SLS – Thankful that there’s a William Hill spot not too far from the big sports book that starts with a “W” and that your staff there is always friendly.
“Hey Tommy, you missed Circus Circus!” I know…aren’t you thankful?
