As the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels threw down in usual late season ACC action, a couple of the the NFL’s most familiar faces were in the house. What were Jason Garrett and Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys doing at Cameron Indoor on Saturday night? Well, perhaps other than cheering for Duke (polo shirts and all), they were conducting research on how to be successful late in the season.
Maybe Jason and Tony learned something from watching the strong late season performance by Jabari Parker, and in the process will perhaps prove Vegas wrong this NFL season for listing “America’s Team” as a 30-1 long shot to win Super Bowl 49, which will take place in Glendale Arizona. Interesting to note that the last time that the Cowboys won the Super Bowl was nearly 20 years ago – in Arizona. Dallas beat Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XXX but didn’t cover the 13.5 point spread.
As for the basketball game, Duke got the win by a score of 93-81, covering the 9.5 point spread in the process. Duke put an end to a North Carolina winning streak that has many thinking that the Tar Heels might be a nice March Madness long shot play. NCAA Basketball Championship odds in Las Vegas for Roy Williams’ squad is currently at 35-1, while the Blue Devils odds offer less value at 8-1.
