Planet Hollywood Sports Book Review

Planet Hollywood Race and Sports Book

Seats: Approximately 100 with additional seating at the connected bar

Screens: Two big screens and approximately 30 additional screens

The Planet Hollywood sports book (aka The Playing Field) is a very nice space located near the southern casino entrance. It boasts very comfortable, plush seating and the enjoyment of sports betting minus the smoky room effect you’ll find at other sports books. Although horseplayers can view the races from anywhere in the sports book, there is a small area to the rear of the sportsbook reserved exclusively for those betting the ponies. This sports book has a theater feel to it (perhaps one could call it a “Hollywood” theme) due to its seating arrangement and the dim, yet very cool lighting.

Although there is a bar connected to the sports book, cocktail service here can be spotty. Drink tickets are easy to come by, so having the bar nearby comes in handy if the cocktail servers are not coming around often. There are no restrooms in the sports book and you’ll have to walk a bit for a bathroom break. The ticket writers are friendly and don’t forget to hand over your Total Rewards (Caesar’s properties) card when placing horse bets as you can accumulate points for comps.

Odds and Ends: Three words: Earl-of-Sandwich. Many Vegas visitors have already discovered this gem of a sandwich joint, located in Planet Hollywood directly across from the sports book. I dare you to find a better sandwich on the strip, and another great thing, it won’t break the bank – very reasonably priced. It is a good idea to monitor the line (the line to order food, not the betting line) if you find yourself getting hungry while at the sports book. The line at Earl of Sandwich does get long at times, but the quality of the sandwiches definitely makes it worth the wait.
