Get Ready for Richard Sherman Super Bowl Props

Famous (or infamous) NFL players get special attention from sports books when it comes to Super Bowl proposition bets.

Every Super Bowl has story lines that the media will magnify ten-fold as kickoff to the big game approaches. Last year, the story lines to Super Bowl 47 included the brother matchup of Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh, the young “run and gun” 49ers QB, and of course the retirement of Ray Lewis and the last game he would be playing along side Ed Reed.

Vegas sports books took notice and Ray Lewis and Ed Reed were included in several prop bets for Super Bowl 47. Richard Sherman, a well-known NFL commodity who now seems more notorious than famous after the NFC Championship post-game blow up, will surely be the focus of various Super Bowl Props for Super Bowl 48.  What will those Richard Sherman props be? Well, by taking a look at last year’s LVH Super Book props for Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, perhaps we can anticipate which types of props may involve the Seahawks  All-Pro defensive back.

Last year’s Super Bowl 47 (2013) props may clue us in on Richard Sherman props for Super Bowl 48:

TOTAL SOLO & ASSISTED TACKLES BY: RAY LEWIS (BAL)
**(Sacks do not count, Defensive+Special teams solo+assisted tackles count)
OVER       10.5  -140
UNDER      10.5  +120

This went way under as Ray Lewis had a combined 7 tackles. The number will be lower if this type of prop bet (Total Tackles) is offered for Sherman as corners aren’t going to be involved in as many tackles as a linebacker. For reference, Sherman accounted for 2 tackles vs the 49ers on Sunday.

TOTAL SOLO & ASSISTED TACKLES BY: ED REED (BAL)
**(Sacks do not count, Defensive+Special teams solo+assisted tackles count)
OVER        4.0  +160
UNDER       4.0  -180

Ed Reed’s over/under tackle number may be more in line with what the same prop bet on Richard Sherman will look like this year. Reed had a hand in 5 tackles in last year’s Super Bowl securing a win for Over bettors.

WILL ED REED (BAL) INTERCEPT A PASS?
YES              +400
NO               -500

This prop will be the most interesting if it is offered on Richard Sherman. Sherman has no interceptions in 2 post season season games so far and it will be hard to see Peyton Manning making many mistakes. For the record, Ed Reed did get a pick off of Colin Kaepernick during last year’s Super Bowl rewarding “Yes” bettors with a 4-1 payoff.

We’ll post all of the Super Bowl props as soon as they are released by Vegas Sports Books.
