Ronda Rousey Loss a Body Blow to Las Vegas Sports Books
Ronda Rousey’s knockout defeat at the hands, and feet, of Holly Holm produced a tough evening for Las Vegas sports books. The UFC match between Rousey and Holm generated a betting handle similar to a typical NFL game and when the dust settled, Holm backers were cashing tickets at high odds. Odds on the Rousey Holm match varied slightly around Vegas – the Westgate Super Book finished at 6-1 on the underdog Holm while MGM sports books (MGM, Mirage, Aria, Mandalay Bay) had Holm posted at 7-1. Caesars Palace run sports books had Holm at over 8-1 at one point..
There was certainly some profits skimmed off of all the money that Las Vegas sports books collected from the various upsets in college football on Saturday. The Westgate Super Book had printed 5 times more tickets on Holm, who won in impressive fashion. Many on social media commented that the Rousey Holm rematch would be a fantastic event to open up the new arena being constructed just off of the strip. The odds on a rematch would be equally as interesting.
