Texas +7 over Oklahoma State

At 3-3, the inaugural season for Tom Herman at the University of Texas might appear to be a continuum of the previous three years under former head coach Charlie Strong. Nothing, however, could be further from the truth.

While Strong’s Texas teams often looked disorganized, disheveled and lacking fight when push came to shove, Herman’s first edition in Austin – outside of a season-opening whiff against Maryland – has brought hope to the Longhorn faithful. Although Texas is woefully thin in its offensive line and lacks playmakers, true freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who has supplanted Shane Buechele as the Longhorns’ starter, gives Herman a centerpiece for his building process.

Saturday’s opponent, No. 10 Oklahoma State, represents the third Top 10 foe faced by the Longhorns this season, and Herman has thrived in the underdog role, dating back to his days as offensive coordinator at Ohio State. As an underdog, Herman is 13-0 against the spread in stops at Ohio State, Houston and Texas – the latter two as head coach.

Take Texas and the 7 points against Mike Grundy and Oklahoma State.
