Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget Sports Book

Screens: Jumbo screens with several 60-inch displays. Over 50 screens throughout the sports book and individual monitors

Seating: Over 100, including a mix of lounge and desk seats

The Golden Nugget Sports Book features a giant video screen that encompasses the full southern wall of the space. There is also a screen at every seat and additional flat screens throughout the sports book, giving the Golden Nugget the distinction of having more TVs per square foot than any other sports book in town. This means two things A) There are a ton of screens and B) The Golden Nugget Sports Book is on the small side, albeit larger than most sports books downtown.

The Grille is located directly adjacent to the sports book and it’s a convenient spot for some quick eats while hanging out at the sports book. Nothing spectacular but the burgers and other offerings are acceptable.

Due to the Golden Nugget sports book’s size, seating would seem problematic. However, aside from NFL Sundays, I have always been able to find a seat here – even during a recent visit during March Madness. The ticket writers are friendly and the counter is always well staffed so the line to place a bet generally moves quickly. If you are a horse racing player, the sports book staff will provide free racing forms so simply ask (sometimes, the staff will inquire if you are a guest of the hotel ; simply reply in the affirmative – I’ve never had an issue).  This is a nice old school touch as many sports books around town don’t carry Racing Forms anymore – and some of the ones that still do will charge you for them.

The drink ticket system is used for free beverages and the “looseness” of each ticket writer varies. If you are betting on the ponies, drink tickets are easier. Speaking of drinks – they come in large 16 oz. cups…another nice touch by one of the best sports books in not only Downtown, but all of Las Vegas.
