Notre Dame – 9 over Texas _One of the weekend’s most intriguing matchups features a pair of college football’s most storied programs squaring off for the first time since 1996.
The Longhorns hope to avoid back-to-back losing seasons after going 6-7 in Charlie Strong’s first season in Austin. The Irish, meanwhile, return 16 starters from last year’s 8-5 edition and are a veteran laden team with darkhorse designs on college football’s four-team playoff.
Texas junior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes sputtered badly last season against quality opposition and the Irish certainly fall in that category.
Also, the Longhorns have fallen on their collective faces in recent years against high level foes, going 10-23 ATS versus ranked opponents over the past seven seasons.
I recommend taking the Fighting Irish and laying the points.
