Texas Tech-Oklahoma State Over 76
College totals in the 70s can be difficult for many handicappers to dissect. Some shy away without a second glance, convincing themselves there are better options on the board.
It’s no secret that the Big XII is known for its fast-paced, high-scoring offenses, and these two border rivals are perhaps the best examples of that belief.
Oklahoma State and its underrated head coach, Mike Gundy, have owned Texas Tech in recent years, having won the past nine meetings between the schools. The Cowboys have scored at least 41 points in each of the past seven of those meetings, averaging a whopping 54 points against the Red Raiders during that span.
Saturday’s combatants have totaled an average of 86.4 points in their past seven meetings, with five of those contests resulting in 80 points or more.
Since the start of the 2015 season, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are a combined 18-6 ATS to the “over” in games with a total lined in the 70s.
Both teams play an up tempo style and history shows there will likely somewhere in the neighborhood of a total of 160 plays, with more than half of those likely being passes.
First-year starting quarterbacks Alan Bowman (Texas Tech) and Taylor Cornelius (Oklahoma State) should pick up where their predecessors left off.
Look for these Big XII teams to get over the total of 76.
