Best Las Vegas Sports Books – Mandalay Bay Sports Book Review

Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Sports Book Review

Seats: Approximately 300 seats in the sports and horse racing areas.

Screens: A giant 800 square-foot projection screen and about a dozen over-sized TVs. The jumbo screen can be configured into four 200 square-foot screens for showing multiple sporting events.

The Mandalay Bay Sports Book is a large space located prominently within The Mandalay Bay casino area. Once considered one of the Strip’s premier sports books (it is still a good spot), it has been passed up by spiffier sports book set-ups on the strip such as The Venetian and The Wynn. If you are staying at the south end of the strip however, Mandalay Bay is probably the best choice aside from The MGM sports book.

Reviews are mixed regarding Mandalay Bay’s sports book but my visits here have been pleasant. Drink tickets are required to score a comped refreshment but tipping the ticket writer will generally do the trick. Horse players will have easier access to drink tickets than sports bettors. Cocktail service here is generally solid but can be slow on big sports days.

If there is a downside to this otherwise nice and spacious sports book, it’s the screens. There is a jumbo sized monitor and several large screens in this sports book, however, they are showing their age – there are better options on the strip in terms of HD quality sports viewing. New, high definition quality screens would give the Mandalay Bay sports book a huge boost.

An Upgrade to HD Screens Would be a Plus for Mandalay Bay

An Upgrade to HD Screens Would be a Plus for the Mandalay Bay Sports Book

In early 2013, Mandalay Bay announced that there were major renovations on the horizon for the property. However, no mention was made of any changes to the sports book. Hopefully, updating the television monitors is in the books.

Odds and Ends: The Turf Club Deli, directly adjacent to the sports book serves up sports bar food and provides Starbucks coffee. A convenient option for a quick bite while at the sports book.
