NCAA Football Saturday Pick

Louisiana Tech -5.5 over Southern Mississippi
Entering Saturday’s key Conference USA West showdown, Louisiana Tech is coming off a sub-par 17-15 victory over lowly Texas El Paso, while Southern Mississippi is riding a five-game winning streak during which it has averaged an eye-popping 46.2 points per game.

Louisiana Tech was actually out-gained by UTEP by 85 yards (392-305) last week and also lost the first down battle by a 21-12 margin.

Meanwhile, Southern Miss has clearly hit its stride in Todd Monken’s third year at the helm of the Golden Eagles. After averaging less than 20 points per game in each of his first two seasons, Southern Miss has doubled those totals this year based on its current norm of 39 points an outing.

Louisiana Tech a Tough Customer at Home

While many factors might seem to point to Southern Miss, the Bulldogs have been tough in similar spots in the recent past, going 11-3 ATS when cast as a single-digit conference favorite. Skip Holtz’ troops have also covered seven of their past 10 games as a favorite in the friendly confines of Joe Aillet Stadium.

Take Louisiana Tech and lay the 5.5 points.
