Bellagio Sports Book – Changes are on the Way
There are a handful of iconic sports books in Las Vegas and the Bellagio fits in that category. A large space, leather captain chairs, a generous comp drink policy, and of course the upscale feel of the overall property itself makes the Bellagio sports book one of the best in Las Vegas.
Change is in the wind however, as MGM Resorts (the hotel chain that operates Bellagio) is planning a revamp of the sports book space. A good portion of the desks within the horse racing area will be removed and replaced with a lounge set up that will include couches, chairs, and tables. The lounge concept is already in place at other MGM operated sports books – Aria and Monte Carlo sports books are a couple that have adopted the alternative set up.
Unfortunately, the starting gate themed ticket windows are already gone so changes have already started. Luckily, the leather over-sized captain chairs will stay in both the sports area under the LED board and the remaining horse racing area that will be reduced in size with the introduction of the lounge.
The upgrades to the sports book are supposed to commence sometime in mid-February and should take several weeks to complete. Although the time frame is not 100% clear – the renovations should be completed by the start of March Madness. That was only mentioned as a “should” by the sports book staffer I spoke with, but I would think that given the nature of the changes, a few weeks seems like a reasonable time frame.
