Monmouth +1.5 vs St.Peters: St. Peters has looked good vs the likes of Niagara and Stony Brook, but I believe Monmouth is better than both of those teams. Monmouth can score and they looked good in their only game so far, a loss to Hofstra, where the Pride shot lights out. St. Peters’ underlying numbers are not headed in the right direction and I see Monmouth taking care of business at home. I think the +1.5 is generous. Take the home dog here.
Santa Clara -9 at San Jose State: No, they won’t challenge Gonzaga for the WCC crown but Santa Clara looks to be strong in an improving West Coast Conference. Santa Clara has some good defensive pieces in their starting 5 and that does not bode well for a San Jose State team whose leading scorer thus far is averaging just 10 points per game. Santa Clara forward Josep Vrankic is developing nicely and he will be best player on the floor today. Lay the points as I anticipate a Santa Clara double digit win.
