College Basketball Plays for 1/6/21

**(663) Virginia Tech +5 at Louisville: Louisville has gotten better, winning three straight, after the beat down they took from Wisconsin in mid-December. What hasn’t gotten better is their home ATS, which sits at an unprofitable 40% (2-3). Virginia Tech is 2-0 ATS away from home including a good win and cover over Clemson. Several key underlying numbers show better for Virginia Tech and the price is right as a 5-point dog here. Take the Hokies.

**(683) UNC Greensboro +1 at Wofford:  I think UNCG’s defense will be the difference in what should be a tight game. Their defensive efficiency numbers are superior to Wofford’s and they have been clamping down on teams allowing an average of 60 points over their last 5 contests. UNCG shot badly in their last game vs ETSU and I see enough of a correction coming to look at them favorably here.

**(1685) Wichita State +6.5 (first half) at Houston: Houston’s 8-1 record is deceiving and I think they are a tad overrated. Wichita State, against solid opposition, has put up better assist and turnover numbers. Houston’s defense is the real deal however and it will be interesting to see how an experienced and disciplined Wichita State squad absorbs the pressure. This should be a grind it out type of game and I expect Wichita State to hang around.

**(690) Duke -11.5 vs Boston College: There is nothing in BC’s underlying numbers that leads me to believe that they will give any trouble to a Blue Devils squad that has had several weeks to get ready to resume play. Yes, Duke looked below average before their three-week hiatus but I expect them to come out of it a much-improved team. As of 10:30 am pacific time, 69% of the public is on BC. Don’t underestimate Coach K.
