MLB Play of the Day: Rockies at Red Sox

MLB Play of the Day

Rockies at Red Sox 4:10 pm pacific (Fenway Park Boston)

Colorado Rockies hitters struggle vs. lefties – they are near the bottom of the league in several offensive categories when facing southpaws. Also, no different than in past seasons, the Rockies offense is a different animal on the road compared to Coors Field. The Rockies catch a surging pitcher in Red Sox lefty James Paxton, who has struck out 17 batters over his last 12 innings pitched. On the flip side, Rockies SP Connor Seabold’s swing and miss rate is trending down while his fly ball % is trending up – that’s not a good combination, especially in this situation where the Red Sox have one of the highest slugging percentages at home in all MLB (4th overall). The Red Sox are also getting it done at nearly a 60% clip (19-13) this season on the run line after a win (Red Sox beat the Yankees last night). The Rockies are simply not playing good baseball right now as they hold a 3-10 record over the past 2 weeks.  It could get ugly tonight at Fenway…..I will play the juiced run line and back the home team. The Play: Red Sox -1.5 (-125)
