Dodgers SP Bobby Miller is coming off a strong performance vs the tough hitting Texas Rangers. Miller struck out six Rangers in as many innings in that outing and he now gets a Reds squad at his pitcher-friendly home field at Dodger Stadium. Miller’s home ERA (5.93) in 5 starts is a red flag, but the command issues that affected a couple of home starts in June have dissipated. He’s primed for a strong start tonight vs. Reds hitters that are striking out at a 27% rate over the last 2 weeks – 5th worst in all MLB. Reds SP Brandon Williamson continues to struggle to rediscover the elite strike out numbers he showed in the minor leagues. Some of Williamson’s underlying numbers are improving, albeit they are still unspectacular. His swinging strike rate is clicking down however and you have to factor that into this matchup vs a Dodgers team that is slugging .477 vs lefties this season – Top 5 in MLB.
