Las Vegas Sports Books with the Best Food Options – Downtown/Fremont Street

We’ve looked at great places for sports book food both on The Strip and at Off-Strip locales. But what about Downtown?

Ah yes, good ol’ Fremont Street in Downtown Vegas – the place that many love and others have yet to “rediscover.” If you are staying downtown, there are plenty of sports books to choose from and all within close proximity of each other as the hotel/casinos along Fremont Street are densely packed. With the exception of perhaps the new William Hill set up at The Plaza, sports books downtown are all on the smaller side, but there’s nothing tiny about the great sports book food to be found at some of the casinos in and around Fremont Street.

The D – American Coney

If you take a stroll around The D, it won’t take long to see someone strolling around with a white to-go container with a fork sticking out of it – that white to-go box contains the famous chili-cheese fries from American Coney. The best chili-cheese fries in Las Vegas can be found at American Coney, located on the first floor of The D, as well as some great hot dogs and other delicious offerings from this Detroit original.

The sports book at The D is small but there’s plenty of room to enjoy a meal there as a few tables and stools are usually available, and it’s only a short escalator ride from American Coney. The Longbar is also a great place to take food to while the games are shown on the flat screens behind the bar. A simple pleasure everyone should indulge in while visiting Fremont Street: American Coney chili-cheese fries while taking in a game at the Longbar.

The Plaza – Pop Up Pizza

William Hill has totally revamped the sports book within The Plaza to a point where this spot is one of the better options for sports betting and viewing downtown. Pop Up Pizza is conveniently located just steps away from the sports book area in The Plaza, making it easy to grab a slice of pie and bring it back to the sports book.

Pop Up Pizza is often compared to Secret Pizza at Cosmopolitan, and yes there are some similarities (size of slices, thin crust, both NY style) but I’ll have to lean towards Pop Up Pizza as being a tad better and quite frankly, the best pizza downtown. At around $3-$4 a slice, combined with Plaza offering $2 Dos Equis at casino bars, you can’t go wrong.

The Vegan pizza as well as the parmesan fries are some of the favorites at Pop Up Pizza. The Goodman (named after Oscar), a carb-laden slice with spinach and potatoes and the old fashioned cheese pizza are good bets as well.

Main Street Station 777 Brewery

Ok, I know, there is no sports book at Main Street Station (you have to take the walkway over to The Californian to place a sports bet), but if you are downtown and plan to watch sports, the 777 Brewery at Main Street Station is a great spot. A great microbrew selection along with a sushi bar (yes, sushi) and old fashioned sports bar fare like wings and burgers is what you will find at The 777. This place used to be an absolute bargain several years ago – food prices have creeped up slightly but are still reasonable. Burgers are in the $8 range (and very tasty) and $5 will get you a dozen wings. Happy Hour is a good time to hit the 777 as 23 oz. microbrews are only $2.95 and the sampler (5 different microbrews) is only $5.50.

As for the sports viewing, there are multiple flat screens throughout and any spot in the dining area will work for watching the game.  The 777 gets busy during NFL and College football so plan accordingly if you plan to visit on an Autumn weekend.
