For a blend of vintage and modern, you can’t beat the recently updated William Hill Sports Book at The D in Downtown Las Vegas. William Hill took over sports book operations when The D opened in the Fall of 2012, but the dated lounge furniture and stools from the old Fitzgeralds remained in use for the space. Even though the second floor of The D, where the sports book is located, is the “Vintage” area of the casino it was kind of odd having spruced up flat screens with new blue and yellow William Hill logos mixing in with 80s era furniture.
Now however, The D sports book has a new look with additional seating and upgraded black leather chairs and stools. The improved seating and table set up gives the sports book space a much more modern and classy look. Although seating here usually isn’t a problem (which is a good thing), the seating area at The D sports book was pretty lively during my visit on a recent NFL Sunday.
The D sports book isn’t a grandiose “Super Book” a la Caesars or LVH, but if you find yourself on Fremont Street, it is one of the better options for a comfortable and usually not-too-crowded spot to watch and bet on sports and with the recent upgrades, all the better.
