Las Vegas Sports Book News – LVH becomes Westgate Las Vegas, and with it some positive news about the “Super Book.”
Westgate CEO David Siegel, the new operator of the former LVH, is saying all of the right things in terms of the future of the Westgate aka LVH aka Las Vegas Hilton. Only a fraction of the rooms will go the time share route so the property will remain primarily a hotel/casino. The entire property is also slated to be getting some much needed TLC, which it desperately needs.

“LVH” Removed from Marquee – This Made me Nervous at First, but Westgate CEO David Siegel Promising Better Things
One of the most important components to this property, The Las Vegas “Super Book,” is looking like it will benefit from the ownership change. Siegel recently toured one of the more “upscale” sports books on the Vegas Strip with Super Book boss Jay Kornegay. It’s good news that the new owner is taking a look around at the competition and willing to invest in a space within the LVH/Westgate that has reached iconic status amongst sports bettors in Las Vegas.
The fact that the “Westgate” name could very well appear on ESPN when they talk “odds” or on Fox during Super Bowl week certainly won’t hurt either.
What are my personal (and surely the myriad of sports book patrons) hopes for the iconic LVH/Westgate Las Vegas Super Book? Here are a few:
1. Do whatever you have to do to keep Jay Kornegay at the Super Book. There is no better ambassador for the the Las Vegas Race and Sports book business than Jay. He and his team do a fantastic job from both a customer service and numbers/odds standpoint. Nobody better in my opinion.
2. News is that the jumbo screens will be one of the first things planned for an upgrade. Long overdue and what an improvement it would be for the Super Book to have new HD screens in the main sports book area.
3. Keep the Football Central parties in the Theater going on NFL Sundays. No better place and value for watching/betting the NFL.
4. Don’t go to the drink ticket system. A great old school aspect of the Super Book is that drinks are offered as long as you have your betting slips visible. Another thing that sets this sports book apart.
5. Remodel that bathroom by the main sports book entrance. I avoid that bathroom simply because of the tight quarters and the 1993 feeling.
There you have it. In a town where things change so often, I’m hopeful that one of the few remaining icons in town keeps getting better. Long live the Las Vegas Super Book!
