Betting at a Las Vegas Sports Book – The Unexpected Teaser Parlay

Betting at a Las Vegas Sports Book – The Unexpected Teaser Parlay

I was pleased to hear that my neighbor was headed to Vegas for a quick 2-day trip, and while there, he was more than happy to lay down a few sports book bets for me. Bless his heart.

I hadn’t handicapped much so I gave him some cash and let him know that I would call him with my desired wagers when he was at the sports book. The first day went well, as I hit a modest play on a baseball bet.

As he was leaving town back to Southern California, he notified me that he would be making a stop to spend some time at Buffalo Bill’s at State Line, which houses a William Hill sports book. I asked him to bet some of my winnings on a 10-point teaser parlay – this is a fun sports book bet that William Hill offers.

He wasn’t on driving duty, so he was getting the last hours of “party time” in at State Line before heading home. He was nicely toasted when I called him and conveyed my bet, which was as follows for week 1 of the NFL (remember, the lines reflect +10 points on the teaser):

Jags at *Eagles -1/2

*Packers +15.5 at Seahawks

Colts v Broncos *Under (66)

Let’s just say that something was lost in translation between his several Budweisers and his trip to the betting window. The ticket came out looking like this instead:

Where in the heck did Appalachian State come from? My buddy indicated that he had no idea how Appalachian State ended up on the ticket – I couldn’t be mad, he tried his best in his inebriated state to get me in on some sports book action. After a good laugh, I went to the web and found out that The Mountaineers used to be quite the FCS powerhouse and that they play in the Sun Belt Conference. Now, I will wait and see if they can put up some kind of fight vs. Michigan this weekend.

The moral of this story? Have your drunk friend in Las Vegas make a sports book bet for you at your own risk. Now let’s go Appy State!!
